There's nothing more uplifting than a familiar, friendly face at the end of a long run. Well, being carried by a group of firemen to the end of the long run might be more uplifting. Ha ha! Anyway -- I was reminded of this yesterday (the familiar face, not the firemen) while Michelle, my awesome running buddy, and I were in the 24th mile of our 24-mile run. We were facing traffic, like good runners do, when this car starts heading into the bike lane right for us. We wondered for a moment what the car was doing. Lo and behold it was my friend, Eric Lerude, just wanting to say hello. Eric is the founder and organizer of the most fun relay ever, The Reno-Tahoe Odyssey. (For those of you not from the Reno-Tahoe area, click here for more info on this great race.) So when I introduce him to my running friends, I like to include the name of their RTO team as well. He knows most of the teams, especially those that have been running this relay year after year.
Another shout-out to the Lerudes ... not only do they put on a great event, but they are also very generous. Thanks again for the generous donation to the Girls on the Run program! Again, if you're not familiar with this amazing organization, click here for more info.
This concludes my Karma & Kindness post #1.
A wave and a friendly hello can make a difference too.
